• BBQ-n-Blues Rib Cook-Off Event

  Join us for the 11th Annual Rib Cook-off at BBQ-n-Blues!  1st Prize is $500 Cash, 2nd Prize is $300, 3rd Prize is $100, 4th Prize is $50, 5th Prize is $50.

  • Location: First Street between Wright and Gooding Streets – Downtown LaSalle, IL
  • Setup begins no earlier than 7am. Any team that sets up prior to 7am will be disqualified.
  • Cooking sites will be assigned upon arrival – at 7am or after.
  • Meat inspection upon arrival at check-in.
  • Pork Back or Spare Ribs.
  • Only one entry per grill. Multiple entries are allowed per team but you must have multiple grills (i.e. one team of 4 people bring 2 grills and can enter 2 sets of 8+ ribs but must pay 2 x $30 entry fees, 3 grills=3 entries, etc.)
  • The entry platter container will be assigned mid-morning with each contestant’s own anonymous entry number.
  • Use of charcoal & wood(s) only, no propane grills. Pellet grills are allowed but generators will NOT be permitted and power sources are not available.
  • Ribs may be trimmed/”silver skin” removed prior to check-in but no pre-seasoning, marinating, or precooking allowed.
  • Use of sauce is not required, but NO pooling of “sauce on the side” will be allowed.
  • Turn-in time will be at 6:00 pm at the Judging area.
  • A “turn-in” of a minimum of Ten or more bone-in, singulated pork ribs will be expected. Any judge served an entry without a bone will automatically be scored a “0” in all categories.
  • Entries will be scored on three categories: Taste, Tenderness, and Appearance, which will be weighted 2.25, 1.25, and .50, respectively. Scores for each category will range from 2 (inedible) up to 9 (excellent). The lowest judge’s score will be thrown out.
  • Winners will be announced at 8:00 p.m. on the stage.
  • The Entry Fee is $30.
  • Scores will be posted after the awards presentation.

  The 11th Annual BBQ-n-Blues kicks off Friday, September 12, 2025, with great tunes and the BBQ & a Rib Cook-Off Contest! Held on First Street between Marquette & Gooding in historic downtown La Salle, bands will begin at 4:00 pm, with the Rib Cook-Off turn in at 6:00 pm, and the winner announced at 8:00 pm. Enjoy some of area’s best blues bands, and don’t forget to grab some fantastic food!  Free admission and free parking on all city streets and lots.

  Blues aficionado. That is how one could describe Travis Ried, who grew up in West Burlington, Iowa. Having discovered the Blues during his high school years, Ried has been playing, studying and breathing the Blues for 25 years.

  He has been influenced by musical legends, such as Magic Sam, Ronnie Earl, Allman Brothers, Albert Collins, Sean Costello, Robben Ford, Otis Rush, Little Milton, Son Seals and Luther Allison. 

  Ried mostly has been influenced by his friend, the late Michael Burks. The two met in 1998 during the Mississippi Blues Fest in Davenport. Their friendship was immediate and Burks often asked Ried to sit in with him during many performances over the years. It was through this lasting connection that Ried learned how to perform. 

  When Burks passed away, Ried found himself displaced in the Blues world. His role model was gone. Fortunately, Larry McCray and Marquise Knox encouraged Ried to start playing again and Ried has not stopped performing since. In fact, Knox and McCray have invited Ried to sit in with him on many occasions.

  In addition, Ried has sat in with Wayne Sharp and the Sharpshooters, Mason Ruffner, Pat Hazell, Chico Banks, Toronzo Cannon,and Clarence Spady. He also has been known to play at Blues festivals throughout the Midwest. 

  These influences can be seen, heard and felt during Ried’s masterful and soulful Blues performances

  Blues Beatles is a Blues band that mixes the melodies of the Beatles with traditional Blues arrangements, a mix that has been winning in Brazil, the USA, and Europe. And they always become an instant sensation everywhere they go and play: New York City, Las Vegas, Chicago, Memphis, Orlando, Charlotte, Montgomery, Chattanooga, Aarhus, Randers, Esbjerg, Brasilia, Goinia, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte among others...its a long list!

  The Blues Beatles is the band that you need to know!

  Help the La Salle Business Association kick off the fall season with a city-wide sales event! Capitalizing on our largest events of the year, BBQ-n-Blues and Jazz'N the Street, bringing hundreds of people to our downtown, join the City-wide sales event on Saturday, September 13th!

  Similar to our Small Business Saturday sales event, LBA will provide flyers with a listing of all participating businesses, their hours, and the promotion/sale they are running. Flyers will also be circulated at our BBQ-n-Blues event on 9/12, the day before the sale.

  Registration is free, for all La Salle Businesses (need not be a member of LBA)! Just let us know what sale or promotion your business will be running, and you are a part of the event!

  Watch for the flyer the week of the event for all of the great deals, promos, and specials! Hours vary by the business, so be sure to call or check ahead of time.  Shoppers make four purchases at any of the participating businesses, drop off their punch card to the pocket park at 540 First Street and then are entered to win one of (3) $50 Locally La Salle City-wide Shopping Cards.  They are valid at over 30 businesses throughout La Salle! 

  Businesses: Participating businesses will receive their informational packet week of 9/8. Packets include instructions, extra flyers, punch cards for the raffle, and a flyer explaining the Locally La Salle Citywide Shopping Card prize.

  Free admission and free parking! Head down to First Street for the 2nd night of this great two-day event! Wine tasting, craft beer, and cocktails in the beverage tent with delicious food vendors as well. Fireworks close out this 2-night event at 10:00 pm.   Tammi Savoy is an Award winning Chicago-based International Retro / Vintage vocalist. Singing Soul, Jazz, Blues, Jump Blues, and more.

  Imagine a woman with a powerful, soulful voice that nails the classic 40s, 50s and early 60s R&B and rock’n’roll sounds. Match that with a great stage presence accompanying a perfect visual adherence to mid-century vintage style.

  "Sangin" from her heart and soul is what classic soul and vintage R&B singing Miss Tammi Savoy loves to do. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Miss Tammi Savoy now calls Chicago, Illinois home. Although she has been singing since the age of 3 in her church choir, Tammi Savoy started singing professionally in 2014 and took the leap to follow her dreams and sing full time in 2018. Tammi performs her own Rockin’ Rhythm & Blues show: “The Tammi Show” around the world. She has also toured with several elite bands and continues to provide vocals for various tribute artists including many highly acclaimed Elvis Tribute Artists, and Bobby Wilson, son of the legendary Jackie Wilson. She has also performed her very own tribute to Diana Ross and is absolutely honored to be the 2019 Ameripolitan Music Award Rockabilly Female of the Year.
